Science Fun

16th Apr 2026

The children in 6th Class had great fun recently when they engaged in the art of making their own butter.

As part of the Materials strand in Science, the children “stepped back” in time, to engage in a process that many of their ancestors carried out routinely.  A simple experiment was carried out to churn their cream. They were left with butter (a fat) and buttermilk (a protein). They enjoyed tasting the butter on some crackers and digestive biscuits.
