FOURTH & FIFTH CLASS 2006-2007

Fireworks

The fuse is lit.

Slap!

Up it goes

So high as it screams

And creaks.

I can see all the colours

Of the rainbow

They flash and pop

As it fizzles and sizzles

Across the sky.

Then slowly it

Fades away and

With a final BANG!

The night eats up

Its sparks.

By Ben (11)

Fireworks

The firework is lit

It spits just a bit

It is dangerous so we run

But it is very fun

It whistles as it goes

Like a normal firework does

It screams

As it beams

As it unfolds

It just explodes.

By Christopher (11)

Fireworks

The sizzle as it’s lit,

The crackle as it sounds,

The whooshing as it leaves us,

The mumbles on the ground.

The whizzing as it flies,

The fizzing as it hangs,

The moaning as we wait,

The shouting as it bangs.

The crying when it’s finished,

The clapping as its sash,

The silence when it’s done,

The whisper of the ash.

By Ciara (11)

Fireworks

As the firework goes up into the air,

You could feel the heat touching your hair.

As you hear it fizzle in the sky,

Some might think it’s a star passing by.

They pop and bang all through the night,

And they give some dogs a nasty fright.

When the colours arise,

It sizzles and dies.

By Colin (11)

Fireworks

The silence as it’s sitting there,

The crackle as it jumps into the air.

The whizzing as it flies,

The whistle as it dies.

Another one straight after that,

Is lit by the man with a hat.

The women look at the display,

As the children stop their play.

It sparkles up in the sky,

Catching the attention of anyone passing by.

When the beautiful sight has passed,

Another one is lit which is the last.

By Dara (11)

Fireworks

The excitement as an adult puts a match to it

The sooner he does the sooner it is lit

Children and parents looking all around

No noise in the air not even a sound

But there will be soon crackling in front of

The bright white moon

There are shades of yellow, blue, orange and red

Children are watching while others are in bed

Parents are smiling ready to dash

When all that’s left of the firework is a black tiny ash.

By John (11)

Fireworks

Bang, whiz, sizzle

There it goes up in the sky

Crackle, crash,

Boom, fizzle

Look at that firework fly!

Pow, snap,

Scream, rattle

And silence as the fireworks die.

By Katie C. (11)

Fireworks

As we wait and watch,

Until they start to pop.

We’re here and we stare,

Oh what a sight!

There it goes with a spark,

You can hear the bang,

Even a sizzle too.

A bright beam,

As the colours go boom.

Swish, swoosh all around the sky,

How many more minutes can it fly?

Here it comes with a screech,

Now it goes by

As it pops down from the sky.

By Marguerite (11)

Fireworks

The minute the firework was lit,

Everyone waited until

They heard a scream.

The blaze was amazing!

It screamed and off it went.

The explosion was HUGE!

Bits went flying everywhere,

Sparks fell from the sky

As if it was raining.

Everyone wanted more!

By P.J. (11)

Fireworks

The silence as the firework was lit,

It was only up for a bit.

The sizzle, the spit and the snap

All went down with a joyful clap.

The colour, the sparkle

And the scream

It was really like a dream.

By Róisín (11)

Fireworks

When the firework is lit

We all run back,

It starts to fly up

With a sizzle, pop, BOOM!

Back to the ground,

In all different colours,

Now there is nothing

But silence.

By Ryan (11)
